My students were enthralled by the snow yesterday, particularly my girl with Down's. I went outside with her three times, and when she asked to go out the fourth, I wouldn't let her (I'm so mean). She then asked if she could use the"big girl" restroom (which is a story in itself), and when she didn't come back after about ten minutes, I peeked my head out the door, and this is what I found. She was mesmerized.

Let It Snow

This is a stunning picutre. Did she even make it to the bathroom? :)
RYC: we didn't get to play in the snow. By the time I got home from school, it was freezing rain. We did venture to the end of the driveway and back later in the night, but that was it. :(
That IS a good picture! WOW!
bet that kind of moment helps during the "are you kidding me" moments. The child like wonder, a small gift for you to see.
now, dont' be putting words in my mouth, only psycho exes can get away with that. you know that's not what i was saying.
i'm just saying that it's mostly witty rhetoric and funny sarcasm, which is good and fun, but has somehow become the gospel for many people...which is not good.
the book is "Searching for God Knows What," by the way. i saw "To Own a Dragon" next to it, but chose this one instead.
i will check your recommended book out. ancient jewish culture is pretty fascinating, and it's interesting to see how many things are exactly the opposite of ours. i have been learning a lot at work about this - a girl whose desk is near mine has made a paper cutout menorah and places a new paper cutout flame on the appropriate candle at sundown each day. she's not jewish, though. although this did spark an interesting conversation about the mystery religion of mithras and how it influenced the beginnings of christmas celebrations for early christians. i always knew those classes with dr reeves would come in handy some day....even if it was at the expense of creeping out the co-workers in our immediate area.
and, for the record, i will never shake hands with a santa in a mall again.
oh, and i am jealous of your snow. all i got was ice. on everything. then rain, then sub-freezing temperatures, which gave me more ice. now there's more ice on the way.
no snow.
